Ulikan Red, locally known as Mimis, Ulikan and Mini-angan, is a unique long grain rice that cooks out thicker and somewhat stickier than conventional long grain rice. Ulikan Red has an “earthy” aroma when cooking, but a mild eating taste and nice after taste. The rice holds up well in soups, cold salads, curries, jambalaya and makes a great rice pudding.
This precious and sacred rice of Kalinga is hand cultivated on the ancient rice terraces of Northern Luzon, Philippines. The Kalinga people praise the flavorful grain as a source of strength and a safeguard against illness. The seeds are treasured family heirlooms.
*Please note for shipping: Eighth Wonder heirloom rice and Social Products Cotabato rice are shipped separately from two different warehouse locations.

Eighth Wonder operates in more than 18 indigenous communities, directly supporting sustainable agriculture and socio-economic development. They are furthering the model of fair trade to include farmers as full economic partners in this international business.
